Introduction

The words of sacred Scripture proclaimed and acted upon is the basis of the Christian life. For Catholics, the liturgy is the place where God is encountered and hearts are stirred. Done well, the Liturgy of the Word prepares us for a close encounter with Christ in community and in communion.

By planning for intergenerational liturgies, the community can experience together the presence of Jesus in the word. The richness can touch everyone, regardless of age, and community is experienced, not as a goal to be reached but a living reality of church in the here and now.

This book contains preparation pages, step-by-step planning pages, and worship aid covers. The preparation pages list the materials and volunteers needed, parish bulletin reminders, hints for the lectors and homilist, and environmental and musical suggestions. The planning pages offer you a step-by-step guide including a sample homily and prayers of the faithful centered on a specific theme.
