This Carrara marble bass diptych represents
the three Marys of the resurrection (L to R): Mary the friend is turned
to listen to the good news; Mary Magdalene moves forward to convey the
joy of witnessing the resurrection; and Mary the mother receives and proclaims
the resurrection promise.
